Radiating the Glory of God / Nature Devotional

But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord–who is the Spirit–makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.

2 Corinthians 3:16-18 NLT

When you spend a significant amount of time in the sun, it starts to affect you. The Vitamin D your body receives makes you happier, and the sun’s rays change your outward appearance, leaving you a different color than before.

It is completely evident who spends most of their time outside enjoying the sun’s warmth and those who will do anything to stay away from it.

The same happens in your relationship with God.

In Christ, the veil has been taken away, and you can not only see who the Creator truly is, but you can bask in His glory and goodness. This basking, like spending time in the sun, changes you. It changes your heart, mind, actions, and motives.

As you spend time in the Lord’s presence, praying, reading the Word, and being still, you begin to transform as your image reflects more and more of who He is—an image that looks completely different than the world’s.

It is not by your own might that you transform into the likeness of God but by the work of the Holy Spirit in and through you. Just as the sun’s rays change you without seeing them, the same is true with the Spirit. You may not be able to see Him, but we can feel He’s there, changing you day by day.

I challenge you to go outside today and bask in the sun’s rays. Feel the warmth on your skin and how your mood slightly increases. Think of how spending all day in the sun’s presence would change you, inside and out.

Meditate on 2 Corinthians 3:16-18 and how spending time in God’s presence changes you. Spend time in prayer, inviting the Holy Spirit in, to help transform you into the likeness of His image so you can radiate His glory to a world in desperate need of it.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the power of the Holy Spirit working in and through me. As the Spirit molds and transforms me to be more like Your Son, I pray that I can continuously radiate Your light and shine it brighter than ever before. In Jesus Name, Amen.
