Happy (almost) Thanksgiving!
I don’t know about you, but 2022 is just flying by.
How the heck is it already time to get stuffed with all the delicious holiday food?? I have no idea, but I’m ready for it.
For Chris and me, the holidays are always a crazy time. We have divorced parents, so it makes for quite an exciting holiday season. Not to mention they also all live in different areas around Florida.
Last year, we went to FOUR different Christmas’ within two days. No joke! 🙃
Thankfully, that will NOT be happening this year. Instead, we’ll spend a couple of weeks with each family throughout the holiday season.
Even though there’s only one family we’re seeing for Thanksgiving, things have already started to pick up a bit. The house is getting more crowded, last-minute grocery shopping is being done, and I’m prepping for the Turkey Strut I’m hosting for my family tomorrow.
*The local 5k Turkey Trot was sold out, so we decided to make our own and call it a strut instead. I’m obsessed with the idea*
I’m sure you’re right there with me, and things are picking up for you too.
Since things are starting to get a bit chaotic and maybe even overwhelming, I have a challenge for you.
Here’s the Challenge
This Thanksgiving, I’m challenging you to add a 5- minute exercise to your morning routine.
What will you be doing during those 5 minutes? Going for a #thankful walk.
This #thankful walk will be very similar to a prayer walk. If you’ve never done a prayer walk before, it’s exactly what it sounds like. You go for a walk and pray while you do it.
Super difficult, right? 😂
It’s not the close-eyed prayer you do before a meal. Instead, it’s a time for you to get away from all the distractions and spend time alone with God.
That’s precisely what we will do with this #thankful walk.
The goal is to get outside in God’s beautiful creation and spend time thanking Him before your day gets crazy.
You see, it’s so easy for us to get on social media and tell the world how #thankful and #blessed we are, then go to God after the fact or only include our Thanksgiving to Him in our prayer before we stuff our faces.
Sometimes He’s more of an afterthought, which is sad because He’s the One who blessed us with everything we have in the first place.
As James says in James 1:7, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”
If all of our gifts come from Him, don’t you agree that He should be getting most (or all) of our Thanksgiving?
That’s precisely what we’re going to accomplish with this walk.
It’s a time for you to think about what God has gifted you. A time to think about all the fantastic things that have happened this year and praise Him for helping you through the hard parts.
I believe this is the best way to start our Thanksgiving day, and I hope that it helps remind you of all the beautiful things God has placed in your life.
So let’s recap what the actual challenge is. Tomorrow morning, you’re going to get up (maybe even a little earlier if you have to) and go for a 5-minute walk. On this walk, you’ll tell God everything you’re thankful for. It’s as simple as that!
When you complete this challenge, I would love for you to DM me on Instagram or Facebook (or you can comment at the bottom of this post)!
I’m Thankful For YOU!
I couldn’t talk about being thankful without saying a big thank YOU!
I thank God every day that I get to work on Close to Creation and that people take the time to read my blog, watch my YouTube videos, and interact with my social media accounts.
