The Love of the One Who Gathers the Waters / Nature Devotional

“By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host. He gathers the waters of the sea as a heap; he puts the deeps in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him! For he spoke and it came to be; he commanded and it stood firm.”

Psalm 33:6-9 ESV

God’s words are powerful.

They hold weight beyond our understanding and comprehension. With simple sentences, He created the natural beauty we see on display throughout the earth today.

By the breath of his mouth, He formed light in the darkness and separated a bright blue sky from the depths of the ocean. He gathered the waters and created dry land.

If God has the power to gather the ocean’s waters and produce dry land, what makes you think He can’t do the same for you? What makes you think He can’t gather you into His arms and create a firm place for you to stand?

If you look all around, you can see God’s intentionality and glory on display through creation. But the most amazing thing is that the fruit His words produced will never outshine His love for us. It will never outshine His love for you.

The Almighty and Powerful Creator is not only mindful of you, friend. He deeply loves you.

You may feel right now that no one loves you or cares, but it is the biggest lie. Even if everyone you know deserted you, you would still have a Father who profoundly loves you—a Father who wants to be in a relationship with you for all of eternity.

He doesn’t want you to pass through this life, going through the motions or living in the mundane. Your loving and compassionate Creator wants you to experience life and life to the full. He wants you to experience a peace that surpasses all understanding and a joy that exceeds any happiness you can find here on earth.

How do you find this? And more importantly, how do you genuinely know He loves you?

“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.” 1 John 4:9 NIV

You may have heard of Jesus before and cast Him aside because of the people who claim to follow Him. But let me tell you, Jesus is kind, loving, gracious, and invites everyone to come to Him. He invites the tired. The weary. The sick. The hurt. The broken.

Every single person is welcome in the arms of Jesus. You are welcome in the arms of Jesus. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you’ve done; He’s holding His arms open, waiting to gather you to Him right now.

Through that loving embrace, you can find the peace, love, and joy you have so deeply desired all of your life.

And unlike love in the 21st century, His love is unshakable

“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.”

Isaiah 54:10 NIV

The Almighty Creator, who forms spectacular mountains, oceans, and sunrises with simple sentences, loves you with a love that is steadfast and secure.

No matter what you’re going through today or what you feel, you can find hope. You can find love. You can find the One who gathers the waters of the sea, waiting for you with arms open wide.

Run to Him and let Him gather you into His safe and loving embrace.

You’re in my heart, thoughts, and prayers, friend.
